Westview Homeowners Association – Board Of Directors Meeting

 

March 22, 2007

Present: Chris Allsbrooks, Barry Douglas, Mike Dempsey, Kim Dempsey, Perry Price, Dennis Mateik, Paul Reynolds, Karla Koles

 

Meeting called to order: 8:07 pm

Meeting adjourned: 9:28 pm

                                               

 

Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved. In the future, the minutes will be distributed to the Board, and Dennis will post them as ‘Proposed’ minutes on the website within 2 weeks. When the minutes are ‘Approved’ at the next HOA meeting, the status will be changed.

 

Old Business

 

Kim passed on the info and contact from Verizon to Karla. Karla talked to DH Bader and Verizon. The problem has been repaired.

 

D.H Bader sent 2 names of electricians that need to be contacted the electrical problem in the front. We need to contact them and see how to proceed.

 

The post office box has been transferred to DH Bader and they are receiving all of the bills and other notifications. They have redirected the actual mail, but Dennis has the key at this time. He checks the PO Box periodically and there has only been junk mail inside.

 

Perry, Mike and Mohammed will meet privately to determine what they want to include in the survey. They will also discuss if the survey should be written or by e-mail. The possible first wave of surveys may be distributed at the Yard Sale. Karla offered to distribute them, and Kim volunteered to assist. It was also suggested that a second ‘wave’ be sent out with the dues notice, because everyone reads that.

 

Chris will contact City of Bowie to get more info on the Neighborhood Watch program. She will meet privately with Mike Dempsey to discuss the findings. This information will be incorporated into the survey, which will be discussed at the next meeting.

 

We discussed getting together in 2 weeks on Tuesday April 3 at 8pm at Cetrones to finalize details. This will be a special meeting so it does not need to be posted. Chris Allsbrooks will make contact with all Board Members to remind them about the meeting.

 

A motion was made by Karla Koles to change the meeting time to 8pm to accommodate working schedules. This was seconded by Perry. The next meeting will be held at 8pm on Tuesday June 12 at The Allsbrooks residence. If there are any other time or date changes, they will be discussed at the meetings.

 

The audit was received, but the Board is interested in getting a summary of the findings, not just the number.

 

No Outlet Sign

We may want to revisit putting a sign up that says No Outlet after Lakeford Lane. This will be put on the back burner until after we get more information about the Neighborhood Watch program.

 

Yard sale

It was a big success last year having it the first Saturday in May. This year that falls on May 5. Karla will be in charge of the planning. We will advertise in the local papers, and the receipts will be turned into Bader for payment.

 

New Business

Block Party for the Westview Community

Would like to start doing the Block Party again. Looking for someone to plan and organize. Was a lot of fun for the homeowners, lots of games and fun for the kids. We can try to combine an entire community program with the one that is done yearly with the Ryan homes. Contact the current planners and discuss piggybacking with them. They send out surveys and then collect payments for the party. Karla will contact them and get some info by the meeting in April.

 

Schedule for the next year

HOA Board meets every third month on the 2^rd Tuesday at 8:00pm

Should an issue come up, Barry can call a special Board meeting

 

Tentative Schedule for next meetings

June 12, 2007, Tuesday.

               This meeting will be held at 5321 Lakevale Terrace/Allsbrooks residence

September 11, Tuesday. Location TBD

December 4, 2007. Location TBD

 

Streetlights

There are streetlights that are out. These are the responsibility of BGE, but since we live in the City Of Bowie, we need to call them (Public Works Department), and they will coordinate with BGE. Can get info from www.cityofbowie.org. This will also be posted on the website.

 

Suggestion

Talk to the Spring Meadows about playground that the developments can share.
